2008 Rocky Mountain Mets Regional Event

The Rocky Mountain Mets cordially invite all MOCNA members to our Regional Metropolitan event to be held on June 26 through June 28 in Castle Rock, Colorado. There is so much to do and to see in Colorado – plan on arriving early and staying late. Castle Rock is located 25 miles south of Denver on I-25 and 50 miles north of Colorado Springs. And the host hotel is one mile away from the Factory Outlet shopping mall, see www.outletsatcastlerock.com.

Friday is a day made for members who love to drive their Mets. We are planning to cruise through the beautiful Air Force Academy grounds, then drive among the Garden of the Gods red rock formations, and then on to summit the 14,110 foot Pikes Peak mountain just like Floyd Clymer did . Later on Friday evening, a leisurely Castle Rock town tour drive is planned.

On Saturday morning, the car show and walking tech tour with Ask Mr. Met John Riley will be held. On Saturday afternoon, we will caravan a short 17 miles to the location of the Rambler Ranch in Elizabeth, which is a private invitation-only museum. Owned by MOCNA member Terry Gale, this is the type of place that every car nut dreams of owning. Go to www.pnwnash.org/museum/ for photos. The original garage holds 40 cars while the recently completed new garage holds 100. It’s been decorated with lots of neon, old Coke machines, restored gas pumps, and a ton of 1950’s memorabilia. Terry’s collection is strongly biased towards Nash and AMC products. The entire collection totals nearly 600 cars, but not all are fully restored. Approximately half live in the “field of dreams” awaiting restoration, which is a step back in time. The Rambler Ranch will be a one of a kind location for the awards banquet and auction. The caterer of the barbequed dinner is Phamous Phloyd’s, also known as Steve Berge, who is a Met member and owns a silver-badged concours Met. See www.phloyds.com.

The host hotel is the Best Western Inn & Suites, 595 Genoa Way, Castle Rock, CO 80109, 303-814-8800 or 1-888-386-2927 (www.bestwesterncastlerock.com). This is where registration and the hospitality room will be located. The overflow hotel is the Hampton Inn, 4830 Castleton Way, Castle Rock, CO 80104, 303-660-9800. Both hotels are offering a special rate of $99 per night for Met club members. Colorado is a very popular place for vacationers in June, and since rooms are based on availability, be sure to reserve your room soon. They sell out fast.

As an encouragement for you to register early, we are giving away a goody bag valued at $30 to each family if your registration is received by June 1. After that date, goody bags will be distributed on a first-come basis to those registering early enough for us to order supplies ahead of time. And each registrant is encouraged to bring a $20 auction item. We will reimburse $20 of your registration fee, and you will be acknowledged for your unique contribution at the auction.

We are planning many memorable times at the 2008 Rocky Mountain Mets Regional Event. Hope you will join us!
